Hurricane season is always a reminder of the importance of having a reliable roof. Thankfully, the My Safe Florida Home Program is back, offering homeowners in Florida a unique opportunity to secure grant funding for home improvements, including new roofs.
The My Safe Florida Home Program, initiated by the Governor, CFO, and Florida Legislature, aims to help Floridians harden their homes against storms and save on insurance premiums. Since its inception in 2022, the program has conducted over 106,000 home inspections and approved 38,500 grant applications. This initiative has already allocated nearly $634 million for home-hardening efforts across the state.
If your home has been inspected, you can apply for a grant to strengthen it against hurricanes. This includes upgrades to roofs, windows, doors, and more. Additionally, starting July 31st, a new grant allows homeowners to choose their preferred roofing contractor for these improvements.
Steps to Apply:
Inspect: Begin with a quality wind-mitigation inspection. This report will help you understand the necessary improvements and potential insurance discounts.
Strengthen: Use the inspection recommendations to fortify your home. Improvements may include roof-to-wall connections, secondary water barriers, and reinforced roof decks.
Save: Once your upgrades are complete, you can apply for discounts on the hurricane portion of your home insurance premium.
We are dedicated to helping you protect your home. Our experienced team of certified professionals can guide you through the process, ensuring high-quality workmanship and exceptional service.
